What's the Downlow?
I'll tell you! Over the last 12 months, street artist Mr Bunny Bread (pictured - from internationally-respected art collective Create Not Destroy) has been designing, illustrating and installing ten outdoor art murals in Lozells. That's Downlow. On Saturday (October 23, 1pm) you can join the man himself for the official unveiling of these works and a guided tour. Downlow is a part of Gallery37, a creative development programme investing in North Birmingham with the goal being to promote community cohesion, culture and a collective voice. Along the way you'll take in a mural depicting a Muslim girl riding a skateboard which has been lauded for its approach to inclusivity. Bunny spotted the girl in Georges Park and asked for her permission to recreate her look. If you can't attend on Saturday, there's also a downloadable map tour (which goes live here, tomorrow) that you can do at your own leisure. Both tours are free but you'll need to register for the guided tour.
